Highway 305 was closed to all but one lane of traffic just after 8:30 a.m. Friday after a clump of alder trees fell across the highway just north of the intersection at High School Road.

Only one lane, the southbound right turn lane onto High School Road, is open.

Bainbridge Island police are guiding traffic through the intersection.

Traffic is slowed to one lane in each direction as southbound drivers were using the shoulder of the road to continue south, and northbound drivers were using the only open southbound lane to head north.

In all, four alder trees fell across Highway 305 just north of the bus stop at High School Road.

Bainbridge has been beset by high winds this morning.
