Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.
SUNDAY, JULY 19
3:15 p.m. Police observed a 32-year-old woman driving a Toyota 4Runner west on High School Road from the roundabout. The driver was wearing earphones and, in her right hand, she held a phone or similar device.
Police said her eyes were on the device — not on the road — and she was using one of her fingers to manipulate the device.
Police stopped the vehicle and the driver claimed she was using a GPS program, as she was from Bremerton and not familiar with the area.
Though she had a license, the driver had no insurance card.
Police found the driver had unpaid tickets on her record.
She was cited and told she could not drive.
3:36 p.m. Police noticed a 31-year-old man driving a white Nissan pickup westbound on High School Road from the roundabout while talking on a cell phone.
An officer stopped the man, who explained that he was talking to his cousin. He also admitted he had no license.
The driver was cited. He then called his cousin for a ride.
