Ballots for the Aug. 4 Primary Election have arrived on Bainbridge Island.

Islanders will cast votes in one race, for the Director District 1 position on the Bainbridge Island School Board.

The nonpartisan office carries a four-year term.

Lynn Smith and Duncan C. Macfarlane are seeking the seat on the board. A third candidate, Tatiana Epanchin-Troyan, is on the ballot, but has pulled out of the race for medical reasons.

Smith, 49, is an instructional designer and training consultant for SAP (Systems, Applications & Products) implementation. She is a longtime volunteer in local schools.

Macfarlane, 50, is an attorney who started the firm of Macfarlane Law in 2007. He was previously a prosecutor in California, and is a producer, engineer and composer who founded Race Horse Studios in 1995.

Registered voters who have not received their ballots by July 23 should contact the Kitsap County Auditor’s Elections Division at 360-337-7129 for a replacement ballot.

Completed ballots must be postmarked no later than Election Day, Aug. 4. Registered voters also have the option to submit their ballot online, via wa.liveballot.com/kitsap, or at a mobile voting location. Ballots also can be dropped off at the Bainbridge Island Fire Department’s station on Madison Avenue.
