Vestmans celebrate 60th wedding anniversary

As the couple remembers it, it happened in Monterey, California a long time ago.

Janet and Tord Vestman were married Jan. 21, 1955. At 6 a.m. the next day, Tord was on his way to Germany, as he was in the Army at the time. Janet went over to Germany in June.

The couple spent 14 months together and traveled all over Europe, as Tord had a lot of leave time available. They said they were lucky that they had a car in which to travel about.

The newlyweds went to Sweden and Janet met Tord’s parents and family. His parents also came to Germany to see them, and the couple also found time to visit the many wine cellars on the Rhine and Moselle rivers during their travels.

The Vestmans now have two successful sons, 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one wonderful doggie named Sadie. Their sons are married to two wonderful girls; Gary to Denise, and Kurt to Beckey.
