Bainbridge blotter | IRS scammer calls

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter:

Thursday, Sept. 18

1:09 p.m. A purse was found sitting in the middle of a parking stall at an Ericksen Avenue dentist office. Although it had been raining that day, the bag was dry as if someone had recently left it behind.

A driver’s license and credit cards identified the purse as belonging to a woman who had reported the bag was stolen from her car two weeks earlier. On the very top of the purse’s contents, though, were a pair of rolled up black sweatpants.

Inside the sweatpants was jewelry with long strands of blonde hair stuck in it.

When the woman came to claim her purse she said the sweatpants and jewelry did not belong to her.

Police thought the items may be connected to a man who officers contacted in the same area the day before regarding possible car prowling. The man had long blonde hair and lives nearby.

Friday, Sept. 19

9:06 a.m. Bicycle lights were stolen while the bike was locked overnight at the bike barn near the ferry terminal.

11:23 p.m. A couple got in a fight after the husband defended President Obama against his wife’s friend. The wife felt that her husband was being too harsh toward her friend.

Angry, she approached him in the kitchen and knocked his glass of wine out of his hand. Wine spilled all over the front of his shirt.
