KENOSHA, Wis. – Sydney Whitaker of Bainbridge Island has earned 2014 All-Midwest Women’s Lacrosse Conference second-team honors.

Whitaker, an attacker and a senior at Cathage College, was one of five Carthage players to win recognition by the All-West Conference. Teammate Lauren Chatham, an attacker, was named to the first team, and midfielder Madison Griffin, defender Stephanie Spencer and goalkeeper Ali Gorman were named second-team all-conference for the Lady Reds.

Whitaker finished the regular season with 52 goals, 21 assists and 24 ground balls.

The Carthage lacrosse team closed out its regular-season schedule last week with a 10-6 record (8-2 Midwest Women’s Lacrosse Conference).

The Lady Reds, seeded second, will open Midwest Women’s Lacrosse Conference Tournament play with a semifinal game on Friday, May 2 versus third-seeded Concordia University (Wis., 12-4, 8-2 MWLC) at Augustana College’s Thorsen-Lucken Field in Rock Island, Ill.
