Driver cited in BHS accident

A Seattle woman who allegedly hit a teenager while driving westbound on High School Road Friday, Feb. 7 was cited for driver inattention and failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

The accident was first reported last week. But according to recently released police reports, authorities said the 50-year-old woman who was behind the wheel was looking at directions when she drove through the crosswalk in front of Bainbridge High School near Grow Avenue when the accident occured just after 6 p.m. Feb. 7.

The woman and passenger in the vehicle, said they did not see the 16-year-old girl crossing the street toward the high school until their car struck the teenager.

The girl was taken to a local hospital and later released with minor injuries.
