Gilmore to run for Kitsap County auditor’s post

Kitsap County Elections Manager Dolores Gilmore will be running for her boss’s job in November.

Gilmore filed as a candidate for Kitsap County auditor on Feb. 3, according to a candidate’s registration form on file with the state Public Disclosure Commission.

Gilmore, 60, is a Port Orchard resident. Gilmore is running as a Democrat, and is the only candidate who has filed to run for the position this November. Her campaign so far has raised $5,000 in self-financed funding.

Walt Washington is currently Kitsap County auditor.

Washington, who was appointed to the position in April 2008, was elected to a four-year term in November 2010.

Gilmore is expected to make an announcement on her race sometime next week.
