Most voters from Kitsap County, Bainbridge Island have yet to cast ballots for Feb. 11 Special Election

A great majority voters in Kitsap County have yet to cast their ballots for next week’s Special Election.

The Feb. 11 election includes a three-year levy for Bainbridge Island schools that would pay for educational programs and operations, and a separate three-year levy to pay for technology improvements.

Voters elsewhere in the county will decide on a four-year levy for operations and maintenance funding for Bremerton schools; a four-year maintenance-and-operations levy for North Kitsap schools; a two-year maintenance-and-operations levy for Central Kitsap schools; and an annexation proposition to increase the taxing boundaries of the Port of Poulsbo.

According to the Kitsap County Elections Division, a total of 29,379 ballots have been returned through Wednesday, Feb. 5. That number represents approximately 26 percent of eligible voters.

Kitsap County officials note that approximately 109,340 voters are eligible to cast ballots in next week’s election.

Most voters on Bainbridge Island have not yet returned their ballots.

An official with the Kitsap County Elections Division reported Friday that 6,166 ballots have been sent in so far from Bainbridge Island, or approximately 34 percent of eligible voters.

Bainbridge has a total of 17,743 registered voters.
