Boy Scouts from Troop 1564 on Bainbridge Island are planning their annual Christmas tree recycling program.

Local Scouts will collect trees from across the island on Saturday, Jan. 11.

People who want to participate in the tree recycling fundraiser can  sign up online at www.treerecycle.net or call 206-780-2722 before Jan. 11. Place your tree at the end of your driveway or near your complex dumpster by 8 a.m. Jan. 11, and let the Boy Scouts do the rest. Donations of $10 to $15 are requested, and can be made online or attached to the tree. Checks can be made out to Scout Troop 1564. No wreaths, please.

The trees will be mulched and the mulch will be donated to the Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park & Recreation District for use in the island’s community parks.
