Home Rule is to blame | LETTER TO THE EDITOR

To the editor:

Gary Pettersen’s recent letter (“Big, fat, expensive failure”) is close to the point but having been in this community almost 30 years, the failure actually goes back to the early ’90s when our voters decided to have Home Rule.

Every year since incorporating, I have observed taxpayers paying more and getting less. It truly is time for island voters to collectively admit failure – give the governing back to Kitsap County and spend their time and extra money improving the island way of life.

When the city council is continually making a rude spectacle of itself and former members and wanna be members are in the back of the room physically fighting, enough is enough.

Wake up, Bainbridge!
