Paul Bang-Knudsen has resigned from Position 4 on the Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park & Recreation District Board of Commissioners, effective immediately. He had been an elected commissioner since January 2010.
Terry Lande, the district’s executive director, said Bang-Knudsen’s resignation letter cited “personal reasons.”
Tentatively, Lande said, the board will begin seeking applications for appointment after its June 16 meeting, with postings accepted until July 7. After two weeks of interviews, “we hope to fill the position by the end of July,” Lande said.
The taxing district’s elections are held on odd years, so the new commissioner would be appointed for two years. The board’s terms are for six years, which places the next election for the Position 4 appointee in November 2013, followed by another election in 2015 when Bang-Knudsen’s term expires.
According to a spokesman for the Bainbridge Island Fire Department’s Board of Commissioners, Bang-Knudsen remains a member of that board. His six-year term expires at the end of 2013.
