New principals announced for Wilkes, Sakai

Bainbridge Island School District has announced new principals for Wilkes Elementary School and Sakai Intermediate School.

Retiring Wilkes principal Liane Adamske will be replaced by Sheryl Belt, who is currently the principal of Cascade Ridge Elementary School in the Issaquah School District.

Sakai will see the return of a familiar face as outgoing principal Jo Vander Stoep is succeeded by Jim Corsetti, who taught at Sakai from 1999 to 2003 and served as its assistant principal for the 2003-2004 school year.

He will leave his post as principal of Green Mountain Elementary School in the Central Kitsap School District.

Superintendent Ken Crawford said Belt and Corsetti were chosen from the strongest pool of candidates he has seen for a principal position.

“These are really outstanding individuals who are coming into our school district,” Crawford said.

Belt and Corsetti will begin their tenures this summer.
