Franklin tops Bainbridge wrestlers 36-27 at home

BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge High varsity wrestling team was edged out by visitors from Franklin 36-27 Tuesday at home.

Three double forfeits negated the 106-, 113- and 285-pound matches. Franklin won three forfeits, BHS one.

In the 120-pound match, Bainbridge’s Sterling Watnmen claimed an 11-7 decision win against Mabarik Alie.

In the 132-pound match, Clayton Marsh pinned Franklin’s Danny Nguyen in 1:49.

Franklin’s David Sy pinned Pedro Delfino in 54 seconds in the 145-pound face off.

Nate Michaels scored a win for the island squad in the 152-pound match, pinning Julian Monroy-Trublood in 2:39.

Philip Tran, of Franklin, pinned Emerson Van Dyke in 3:22 in the 160-pound bracket.

Spartan captain Hague Bush claimed a win in the 182-pound match, pinning Joseph Schwab in 3:49.

Franklin’s Angelo Belecina pinned Mac Shelbert in one minute for a win in the 195-pound match.

The loss at home evened the Spartans’ overall season record to 3-3 (3-3 in conference as well), and earned for them the sixth spot in the Metro standings. Rainier Beach boasts the No. 1 slot with a flawless 6-0 conference record.
