SEATTLE – A full handful of wrestlers from Bainbridge High advanced successfully through the Metro League Tournament at Eastside Catholic High School last week to earn a spot in the WIAA Region 1 Tournament on Feb. 11. at Chief Sealth High School.

All the advancing Spartan grapplers placed in the top 10 of their respective weight classes, including the squad’s sole senior and team captain Hague Bush (second place), Oleg Maguire (fifth), Clay Wren (eighth), Sterling Watnem (eighth) and Beto Allen (eighth).

Things are going well for the late-peaking Spartan squad, BHS Head Coach Dan Pippinger said earlier this week. “[We’re] looking forward to regionals next Saturday,” he said.
