BI wins over West Seattle in girls golf upset

The Bainbridge High School varsity girls golf team scored a critical win against West Seattle on the road Friday, Sept. 20.

The final score saw the Spartans up 115-102.

Bainbridge has not lost a match since its first outing of the season against Holy Names Academy on Sept. 9, and the victory over Westside upped their overall record to 3-1.

“We went over to West Seattle and beat them, which was a great win for the girls,” said BHS Head Coach Ian Havill.

“The girls played well. Kendall [Havill] and Anna [Kozlosky] played solid golf, and the sophomores came through to help us beat a very good West Seattle squad,” he added.

Senior co-captain Kendall scored 33 points for BHS, while junior co-captain Anna managed 26.

Hayden Jobes and Charley Halbert chipped in 28 points apiece for the Spartans, while Makena Miller added 25.

Elise Walters contributed 18 points, while Maya Wilder scored 13 and Gabby Edwards added 12.

The Spartans squad stayed on the road Tuesday to play against Franklin, then returned home Wednesday to host Cleveland.

They will next play at home at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30 against Eastside Catholic.
