Richard Aaland

August 21, 1943 – August 28, 2019

It is with great sadness that the family of Richard Dewey Aaland, Jr., born August 21, 1943, announces his passing on August 28, 2019. Dick will be remembered for his service to his country and his strong work ethic. He loved and took great pride in his family. He was a fisherman at heart with his storytelling. Dick was a good man who did secret deeds for many. He was an avid Seahawks fan and car enthusiast. His goofy sense of humor will continue to make us smile.

Dick worked as a general cRichard Aalandontractor and specialty drywall contractor in Southern California, Bainbridge Island, WA, and Kodiak, AK.

Dick is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Aaland, children Kirstin Toynbee (Andrew), Chehalis, WA; Karren Rasmussen (Kirk), Kodiak, AK; Robert Aaland (Heather), Missoula, MT; and Michael Aaland (Andrea Savage), Seattle, WA. Grandchildren: Kayla Boeckman (Josh), Kodiak, AK; Alyssa Rasmussen, Seattle, WA; Liam Toynbee, Audrey Toynbee, and Laurel Toynbee, WA; Peyton Aaland and Suzie Aaland, Missoula, MT.

The family will hold a memorial service where his ashes will be committed to sea, as Dick enjoyed his time on the water, most memorable was with his Hobie Cat.
