Tree trimming to stall traffic on Highway 305 across Bainbridge

Drivers traveling across Bainbridge Island on Highway 305 will face a few more traffic jams than usual.

State officials are advising travelers to prepare for up to 20-minute delays on Highway 305 on the island starting Monday, June 3.

Officials said Washington State Department of Transportation maintenance crews will trim trees along the highway from Monday, June 3 to Thursday, June 6. Crews also will remove select trees that are dead or decaying.

Trimming and tree removal will be done from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the four-day schedule, and officials said crews must do this type of work during daytime hours due to safety concerns.

The work is being done to help improve sight distance and reduce the potential for collisions, according to WSDOT.

The work will require occasional traffic stops or one-way alternating traffic, and will be done in several locations between High School Road and Northeast West Port Madison Road.

Drivers are advised to add travel time to reach their destinations, especially if they are going to the Bainbridge Island Ferry Terminal.
