Interfaith service exalts immigrants, raises funds for Kitsap Immigration Assistance Center

The Bainbridge Island-North Kitsap Interfaith Council raised $1,536 for immigration assistance in its 14th annual Thanksgiving service.

The donations will go to Kitsap Immigration Assistance Center (kitsapiac.org).

The Nov. 20 event, themed “Welcoming the Stranger Among Us,” was hosted by Rolling Bay Presbyterian Church — one of the 21 faith communities in the council.

The interfaith council holds several events during the year and coordinates free Super Suppers the last seven days of each month.

Next month, the group will mark the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights with a community reading at the Bainbridge Island Senior Center at noon Monday, Dec. 10.
