Bainbridge park district planning for new pickleball courts

Bainbridge park officials want to add six new pickleball courts to Battle Point Park.

Commissioners for the Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park & Recreation District decided at their meeting last week that Battle Point Park would be the best place for the new courts.

And at their meeting this week, board members will consider a proposal to construct the courts adjacent to or near the existing tennis courts at Battle Point Park.

A proposed plan shows the pickleball courts being built between the roller hockey rink and the existing tennis courts.

Park officials are inviting the public to comment on the proposal. A presentation of the plan will be made at the board’s meeting on Thursday, April 4 at Strawberry Hill Center. The meeting begins at 6 p.m.

People who want to comment but can’t attend the meeting can submit written comments to senior planner Perry Barrett at perry@biparks.org by 5 p.m. April 3.

The proposed plan can also be viewed at www.biparks.org.
