Bainbridge blotter | Two seconds from disaster

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Island Police Department blotter.

THURSDAY, MARCH 15

8:37 a.m. A traffic emphasis was requested on NE Hidden Cove Road.

A 71-year-old man living near the street reported via email: “It is now getting very dangerous to walk on Hidden Cove.”

Throughout the past two months, “We have nearly been hit over a dozen times,” the man said, “with cars suddenly swerving to avoid us when they are 30 yards or less away and going 60 mph plus. (They are two seconds away when they react to our waving our flashlights.)”

The man said that very day three cars had come so close to hitting his wife she had to jump in a ditch once, “and was terrified twice.”
