Bainbridge blotter | Smoking pot in the park

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

SATURDAY, DEC. 3

6 p.m. Police were called to a Winslow eatery where a male customer was intoxicated, crying and acting hysterically.

Police arrived and the manager pointed out the customer. When approached, the man apologized and said he would leave. Police asked if he wanted a ride, which he accepted. The officer recognized the man from previous interactions and, upon running a check on the man’s name, discovered he had a pending felony warrant.

The inebriated man was arrested immediately.

FRIDAY, DEC. 2

11:08 p.m. Police found a young couple parked in Manzanita Park after hours. The car smelled strongly of marijuana, and both the man and woman were discovered to be just 20 years old. They voluntarily turned in the marijuana and pipe from the car. The items were confiscated by police and later booked as found property. The office said neither of the couple appeared to be under the influence, indicating they had not actually partaken of the drug yet. They were asked to stay out of Bainbridge parks after dark and to abstain from marijuana until they were of legal age.

They both promised they would.
