Bainbridge blotter | Check was NOT in the mail

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

FRIDAY, JAN. 4

1:11 p.m. A 47-year-old Bainbridge Island woman called police to report the possible theft of her mail from an unsecured box sometime between Dec. 19 and Jan. 2

The woman said she’d been out of town but was advised by the U.S. Postal Service several pieces of mail had been delivered while she was gone. When she checked, there were “very few pieces” of mail in the box.

She also said she was expecting a check from the IRS, but was unsure if it had been delivered yet.

Police suggested she check with the IRS, and the woman said she would.

It was not the first time the woman has had mail stolen from that box. Her neighbors have also had mail taken as well.

There are no suspects.
