Students and staff at Woodward Middle School were evacuated Tuesday after a bomb threat was reported to school administrators.
Woodward Principal Mike Florian notified parents of the evacuation through the district's email system.
Florian wrote in his email that the school was evacuated while he and members of the Bainbridge Island Police Department searched each classroom and commons area on the property. Students and teachers were returned to class after it was determined there was no threat to the school.
"We take these events and disruption of the education process very seriously," Florian reported. "If any students have information regarding the student who wrote the threat, they are expected to come forward immediately."
A parent who received the email said the "threat" was in a note left in one of the school's boys' bathroom.
BISD community relations coordination Pam Keyes had no comment, other than saying that the investigation had been turned over to the police.
