Beauty store is sitting pretty and ready to party

Pretty Stick on Winslow Way won the honor of hosting the next Harveys Original SeatbeltBag release party.

There are only two months to prepare as one island beauty shop plans to party like never before, or perhaps, will ever again.

Pretty Stick on Winslow Way won the honor of hosting the next Harveys Original SeatbeltBag release party.

Harveys SeatbeltBags held an online poll through Facebook to select the next location for their limited edition handbag release party. Pretty Stick was in the running, along with 54 other stores across the nation, to be the party hot spot for the trendy handbag.

Pretty Stick fans certainly came out strong in support of their favorite health and beauty store with

642 votes, earning them the title, and the honor of hosting the limited release.

The release party will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct 13 at Pretty Stick in the Winslow Mall.

Harveys’ release parties are known to attract super-shoppers who fly in from all over the country, according to Josh Bortman, co-owner of Pretty Stick.

People who make shopping their pastime make the effort to attend, which translates into good business for downtown Winslow, Bortman said.

The store is already getting prepared.

“The planning has begun and we’re just starting to research past release parties to make sure we’re up to snuff,” said Lari Seltzer of Pretty Stick. “We’ve been fielding questions from seatbelt sisters all over the country.”

Seltzer said that the mall will be decked out for Halloween by the time the party rolls around, so the spooky season may play a part in their festivities.

Only 250 handbags will be available for the release, making them a highly rare and prized item destined for coveted closet shelves of those lucky enough to get one.

Harvey SeatbeltBags are constructed from seatbelts. Over the past 15 years, they have grown to become one of the hottest and trendiest accessories to dangle from one’s arm.
