Viking, Spartan girls top local placers at state

After putting along the season, high school Kitsap County golfers hit the links one final time for the WIAA State Championships. Each classification had a separate location across the state May 21-22.

Bainbridge

Bainbridge boys had a two-day tournament at Hawks Prairie Golf Course in Lacey. Andrew Jobes led the Spartans by finishing 39th with a total score of 158 over 36 holes. Jobes had a rough second day after finishing fourth on the first day with a 74.

Andrew Grinter finished 58th with a score of 162. He finished 46th on the first day with a 78. Teammates Dane Byers, Rainer Richardson, Anderson Wicklund and Sam Patterson missed the cut after 18 holes. Byers finished 78th with an 83, Richardson 87th with an 85, Wicklund 98th with an 87 and Patterson 130th with a 96.

The Bainbridge girls competed at Eagles Pride Golf Course in DuPont. Grace Chrarintranont finished 29th with a total score of 172. She was 38th on the first day with an 88. Sara Kreigh finished 35th with a 176. She was 44th after 18 holes with a 90.

Clara Kang, Tabor Houghtaling and Clairce Telshow missed the cut. Kang finished 99th with 104 in 18 holes, Houghtaling 122nd with 122 and Telshow 131st with 123.

North Kitsap

Calia Corden represented the Vikings at the 2A girls tournament at MeadowWood Golf Course in Liberty Lake. Corden began the first day in 35th place with a 95. She jumped to 26th with a total score of 188 over 36 holes.

Kingston

Kingston’s Viet Tran missed the cut by four strokes at Liberty Lake Golf Course, finishing 53rd with an 87 for 18 holes. Lane Curtis followed by placing 68th with a 93.

Central Kitsap

Cougar Courtney Yee was 52nd with a 94 after 18 holes. She remained steady, jumping to 51st with a total score of 187 for the tourney.

Bremerton

Jackson Fletcher fell into the middle of the pack on the first day at Liberty Lake Golf Course and missed the cut. He placed 73rd with a 96.

Olympic

CJ Faustino struggled on the first day at Liberty Lake Golf Course and missed the cut. Faustino finished 77th with a 102.

Chelsea Bevan competed at the MeadowWood Golf Course in Liberty Lake and was 31st after the first day with a 93. She fell to 34th over 36 holes with a total score of 197.

South Kitsap

The Wolves boys team competed at the Indian Canyon Golf Course in Spokane. South Kitsap sent five golfers, and Raymond Jennings qualified for the second day, finishing 46th with a 79. Jennings ended up 57th with a total score of 163.

The other four missed the cut after 18 holes. Alexzander Moore was 82nd with an 85, Kaden Thompson 86th with an 86, Daniel Stone 98th with an 89, and Connor Fentress 103rd with a 92.
