Help Ukraine

Local artists are working together to help people harmed or displaced by the crisis in Ukraine.

Artists will be donating prints of their work and showing them at Grace Episcopal Church through May 30.

Minimum donation is $100, which will go to Direct Relief 1, which is working with Ukraine’s Ministry of Health and has delivered more than 164 tons of medical aid since Russia’s invasion.

Brew aids Ukraine

Bainbridge Brewing’s latest release RESIST Anti-Imperial Stout was made as part of a global effort among brewers to support humanitarian relief efforts in Ukraine.

The recipe was developed by displaced Ukrainian brewers and features roasted beetroot add to the finished beer.

Proceeds go directly to Red Cross Ukraine. For details go to Instagram @bainbridgebrewing

Mail thieves

Police officers were alerted to a suspicious vehicle last week, which resulted in an arrest for mail theft.

A citizen reported a teal green jeep at several mailboxes along Manzanita Road around 7 p.m. The driver was stopped, and officers observed a large pile of mail in the car. The driver told officers that his “friend” had taken the mail, and he was returning it to keep him out of trouble.

Credit cards belonging to other individuals were found in his possession. Unable to confirm his story, the driver was arrested and booked for mail theft.
