Bainbridge blotter | Gone with the waves

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

THURSDAY, AUG. 31

10:58 a.m. Police learned of a boat which had apparently been stolen from Eagle Harbor Marina.

The boat was a 10-foot-long Avion-brand, Zodiac-style boat, with a Honda outboard motor, which had been attached to a 52-foot-long sailboat.

The owner of both vessels called police and said he’d heard from a friend that the smaller craft was gone, though he could not actually verify it himself because he lives in the eastern part of the state and had not been back to Bainbridge in some time.

Police went to the marina and found the smaller boat missing. Apparently, somebody had lowered the craft into the water and cut a nylon line that attached it to the larger boat.

The smaller craft was valued at $12,000, including the engine.

The owner was informed, a report filed, and the man was asked to check his sailboat when possible to see if anything else is missing.
