Neighbors should fit neighborhood | Letters | Oct. 15

To mention this issue being anything like “black people moving into the neighborhood” is filthy!

Clearly the writer of last week’s letter (“Question yourself first before speaking out”) knows nothing about the neighborhood, which doesn’t have sidewalks in that area and has large families living in it.

The issue is simple: the people who will be living and working there are not homeowners and have no stake in the value of the neighborhood or their neighbors.

The lawyer’s letters, installed cameras and signage are clear signals that this is not going to be a friendly old folks home that won’t mind kids cutting the corner of their yard, bringing cookies over or hanging out with the seniors.

Commodore is a very active neighborhood where people care and help each other. Now they have a business in the middle of their homes with only the concerns of a business and no interest in being neighborly.

The business owners have answered neighborhood concerns with flippancy and legal letters creating distrust and frustration for everyone involved.

Neighbors were hesitant over the home, but positive. It’s the actions of the business owners that have moved this into a bad situation. They need to do some listening and give some proof that they want to be part of this neighborhood and not just a business within it.
