The Bainbridge Island Fire Department Board of Commissioners is accepting letters of interest from residents who want to serve Bainbridge as a fire commissioner.
The Position 4 seat on the department’s board of commissioners is currently vacant following the departure of Eileen McSherry.
McSherry announced her resignation from the board of commissioners late last month.
The vacancy will be filled by appointment by the board of commissioners. The appointee will complete McSherry’s original term through December 2017.
The next election for the seat will be in November 2017.
The fire board expects to fill the vacancy at its scheduled meeting on May 26, and the board plans to meet with candidates before making an appointment.
Letters of interest must be received by 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 11. Additional materials for interested citizens can be found at www.bifd.org.
Department officials note the position is subject to financial disclosure with the Washington State Public Disclosure Commission (www.pdc.wa.gov).
