Work on upgrading the Bainbridge Island Ferry Terminal will mean the temporary loss of roughly 30 public parking spaces in the lot north of the terminal building.

The parking spaces were closed off Tuesday, May 6.

According to Washington State Ferries, the installation of a water line through the parking lot will mean the loss of the parking spaces for approximately two weeks.

WSF is reminding drivers and pedestrians to use caution when moving through the construction zone.

Work on the $4.7 million terminal reconstruction project started in January.

Improvements to the 60-year-old building include reinforcing the terminal’s walls for earthquake safety and modifying the building to meet handicap guidelines.
