Bainbridge Kiwanis recruiting new members
Published 9:31 am Sunday, June 19, 2016
The Kiwanis Club of Bainbridge Island is looking for men and women interested in personally supporting island youth programs and a variety of community service projects throughout the year.
A few of these initiatives include: awarding scholarships each year to graduating island seniors and another to a deserving Ometepe college student; sponsoring middle and high school leadership and community service clubs; honoring an annual “Educator of the Year”, and, each month, four Woodward students; and contributing financially to island Boys & Girls Clubs.
The Kiwanis also sponsor the All-Comers Track Meets during the summer months, act as marshals for the Fourth of July parade and provide traffic management for special events.
Aging demographics have driven membership to a low. Without an increase in members, many of the services mentioned above might very well disappear.
