Jeffrey Pritchard, longtime islander and financial advisor, recently authored the 2019-2020 edition of “529 College Savings Plans for Grandparents,” now available at Eagle Harbor Book Company, Barnes & Noble in Silverdale, and Amazon.
The book addresses rising tuition, the pitfalls of student loans, if college is worth the money, and how grandparents are the best positioned to provide financial support and encouragement for family members pursuing higher education.
“This is a crucial topic for many Bainbridge families since so many Bainbridge High School grads go on to college,” Pritchard said.
According to the publisher, Heritage Press, the 2019-2020 edition includes new information about using 529 plans to pay for K-12 tuition, a chapter on 529 ABLE plans for students with disabilities, and unique strategies for families to create multi-generational educational legacies. “Widely praised by academics, financial planners and college consultants … industry insiders have called this the seminal work on college savings plans.”
