Thanks to many, our missing dog returns | Letters | Sept. 18

On Aug. 23, a maritime exhibition took place off Arrow Point Loop on
Bainbridge Island without any local notice to homeowners in this area. Our dog was terrified by the cannon fire and bolted through our invisible fence.
We received a phone call on Sept. 1 saying Maddy was spotted four miles from our house and we were reunited with her shortly thereafter. Thank you, Michelle!
While Maddy was missing, the response from people on Bainbridge island was amazing. So many wonderful and caring people offered us hope and encouragement during our time of despair. We cannot thank them enough. Also thanks to our daughter, Katie Sweeney and her family, and the Rick Walsh family, for the endless hours they spent making posters and flyers, following up leads and never giving up.
Bainbridge Island is truly a very special place to live.
