Author reads from memoir during visit to Eagle Harbor Books

Bremerton author Rosemary Adkins will meet and greet readers to tell them about her memoir, “Reflections of Mamie,” in a visit to Eagle Harbor Books at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23.

After surviving a tumultuous and abusive childhood and failed marriages, Adkins finally found happiness when she married her current husband, Douglas E. Adkins.

She reminds readers throughout “Reflections of Mamie” that she is a survivor.

In a recent interview with Susan Friedmann of Aviva Publishing, Adkins stated, “Writing this book was an exercise in trying to heal myself” and “I wanted to write this book in order to reach out and let others know they don’t have to throw their life away because there is happiness at the end of the line.”

Adkins will be making donations from the book sales to two charities: Dreamcatchers for Abused Children and Kitsap Humane Society for Abused and Abandoned Animals.

Always seeking to help others, she also established her local American Diabetes Association chapter, which led to her receiving an award at the Kennedy Center. She is also an entrepreneur, owning Miss Mamie’s Co., and she is the author of “Reflections of Mamie” and “Extraordinary Dreams of an Ireland Traveler.”
