The 31st annual Winter Studio Tour will once again take place in artist workshops and galleries around Bainbridge Island beginning Friday, Dec. 5 and running through the weekend.

Sixty-two local artists will be on hand showcasing their work in nine local studios and community halls. The studios will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday as well as 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday with live music provided by regional musicians and carolers.

The tour is free and self-guided. Guests are encouraged to carpool.

The Studio Tour is known for high quality, hand-crafted artwork done in a wide variety of artistic mediums including pottery, paintings, jewelry, furniture, metal art, glass, mixed media, encaustic, wood, photography and wearables. Each studio will be festively adorned for the holiday season.

Refreshments, including cookies and hot apple cider, will also be available.

This year’s tour features several returning artists as well as some new faces.

New to the tour this year, Susan Blackburn will feature her fiber and mixed media designs at the Strawberry Hill Mini Gym. Her sculptures are a balance of different elements that layer to build very unique structures.

“My primary inspiration comes from the geometric structures and processes found in nature,” she said of her work, which often uses some form of fiber, textile hardeners, wire mesh, sculpting compounds, dyes, paints and/or found objects.

“Anything is fair game,” Blackburn said.
