KiDiMu calls for golfers to come putt for a cause

Golf balls from the popular “Motion Madness: Fun with Physics” exhibit at Kids Discovery Museum will roll far beyond their usual designated space and travel through the entire building, putted by golfers of all ages and skill levels, as the nonprofit children’s museum becomes an 18-hole miniature golf course for the inaugural KiDiMu Masters fundraiser.

The benefit event on Friday, Nov. 3 and Saturday, Nov. 4 will include three separate chances to play, including a “Just for Grown Ups” game, a Family Fun Day and a Teen Night match, too.

All three events are open to the public.

“Although the museum is best known to serve families with young children, it truly is a cultural community hub that brings generations together — from senior and teen volunteers, educators and professionals to parents and tots,” said executive director Susie Burdick. “Here they connect and learn from one another and support each other.

“We are thrilled to invite them all to be a part of KiDiMu Masters and support early learning while having fun. We hope to inspire kids of all ages to experience the power and joy of play.”

KiDiMu Masters will kick off at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3 with serious fun for adult golfers and museum supporters (you must be 21 or older). They will play a round of golf and learn about the museum as they putt through the exhibit space.

Complimentary beer, wine, and light refreshments, included with the ticket price ($75 per person), will be served in the Clubhouse tent, sponsored by Wing Point Golf & Country Club.

The golfer with the lowest score will be awarded a grand prize, and KiDiMu Masters commemorative vest at the end of the evening.

An advance RSVP is required to attend, and tee time reservations can be made by calling 206-855-4650, or in person at the museum.

Then, golfers of all ages are invited to experience the museum in a whole new way from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, as they putt through the exhibits. Even the youngest KiDiMu fans will be able to participate. The cost of “adult” admission (12 and older) will be $10, and child admission $5 (12 months – 11 years) with all the proceeds to benefit KiDiMu.

No advance RSVP is required, and there will be no charge for children under 12 months. Light refreshments will be available for purchase. The museum will be setup for golf fun and not the usual exhibit play.

Admission includes a round of golf and special clubhouse activities, including a golf-themed selfie station and practice hole, to entertain the golfers before and after their tee time.

Finally, students (age 13-18, with ID) are invited for a special mini golf get-together from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, to putt through the museum and socialize.

Unlimited golf, complimentary popcorn and soda are included with admission ($20 per person), and an RSVP is not required to attend.
