Ovation! offers thanks for community support | Letters | Dec. 17

Published 3:22 pm Thursday, December 16, 2010

The Board of Directors of Ovation! Musical Theatre Bainbridge would like to thank the community for its overwhelming support of our Dec. 3-19 production of “The Sound of Music.” We are especially grateful to the many businesses who help local arts groups by displaying posters and banners and who donate goods and/or services to help offset production costs.

A special thanks to: My Kids’ Cookies, which donated cookies for eight of our performances; Custom Printing, which helps us in so many ways; the team at the Bainbridge High School Theatre; and Roosters Cafe.

On behalf of the 29 cast members and their families, 14 orchestra members and countless behind-the-scenes volunteers, thank you for supporting the arts in our community.

Time Bank is a good way to nourish a community | Letters | Dec. 17

A note on public TV, the NOW program and an explanation of the Time Bank concept. This interested us, and would really suit Bainbridge Island.

The Time Bank idea involves signing up people who contribute one hour of some kind of work or service to other members of the Time Bank. In return, one is owed one hour from another member.

This looks like a great community builder, and is better than a strict volunteer system, which is limited.

Has anyone thought to start a Time Bank here besides me?
