WEDNESDAY, FEB. 15

2:55 p.m. Police were called to an apparent hit-and-run car collision at the intersection of Lynwood Center and Baker Hill.

A 36-year-old woman driving a 2001 Subaru Legacy was struck by an unknown man in a pickup truck. She was new to the island, she said, and had missed her turn and was looking for a place to turn around, driving slowly, when she began to make the left onto Baker Hill and was hit in the left front fender when the truck tried to pass her on the left in the intersection.

Both drivers got out and the man gave her his phone number, then left the scene. She could not describe the man or truck.
