Coast Guard Auxiliary seeks volunteers

The North Kitsap Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 48 is looking for volunteers to help keep the waters surrounding Bainbridge Island safe.

The Coast Guard Auxiliary is a non-military organization comprised of both citizens and active duty military personnel donating their time and facilities (boats, aircraft, radios) to assist the Coast Guard in maintaining safe waterways.

The Coast Guard Auxiliary is authorized by the commandant of the Coast Guard to perform any function, power, duty, role, mission or operation with the exception of law enforcement or military action. Volunteers can expect the opportunity to conduct maritime surface patrols, communications watches, public affairs services, and public education on marine safety.

Applicants must be citizens of at least 17 years of age and able to pass a security background check. Boat ownership and special skills are desirable, but not required. For more information, call 360-207-4548 or email inquiries to AuxiliaryFlotilla48@gmail.com.
