HRB’s interim director served agency well | Letters | April 9

As your readers know, the Housing Resources Board has just brought on a new executive director, Ken Balizer, to lead our organization. We are thrilled to have someone join us with such rich experience and stature.

Before we begin this new chapter in our history, though, it’s worth pausing to express our gratitude to Kathy Cooper. Kathy was interim director of HRB at a critical time in its history, when several of its projects, and funding sources, were in a vulnerable position.

We are grateful that Kathy is staying on as an HRB staff member.

She jumped into the interim role without missing a beat—and managed our projects, budgets, funders, board members, staff, and political relationships with great skill and thoughtfulness.

With the combination of her abilities, and Ken’s experience, our organization will continue to be an effective and compassionate resource for people with housing needs throughout the county.

Thank you, Kathy, for your service. The island is a better place because of it.
