Alleged home burglar has day in court — times two

The alleged burglar who was chased down and apprehended by a Bainbridge Island homeowner will have his day in court next week.

Cory Glenlynn Smith, 25, will have his first day in a Kitsap District Court Tuesday, Sept. 11 to face charges in the case.

Smith has pleaded not guilty to the charge of burglary. Police said he was arrested after he broke into a Village Circle home on the morning of June 18 and woke up a resident, who chased him out of his home and tackled him outside. Police soon arrived and arrested Smith.

But Smith’s time in the courtroom won’t be over after his burglary hearing. On Tuesday, Sept. 18, he will be back in court for an unrelated case.

Smith was arrested for possession of methamphetamine on Aug. 15 after posting $30,000 bond for the burglary arrest.
