Outdoor writer Craig Romano will introduce and sign copies of his new book, “Urban Trails: Kitsap” at the Traveler at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10. This handy pocket guide, published by Mountaineers Books, will get you exploring the trails, parks and preserves of Kitsap County, including Bainbridge, Bremerton/Silverdale, Gig Harbor and the Key Peninsula. With a special emphasis on the urban trails and greenbelts within Kitsap communities, this guide helps make the outdoors accessible to all for fun and fitness.
Romano grew up in rural New Hampshire where he fell in love with the natural world. He ranks Washington state, his home state since 1989, among the most beautiful places on the planet and he has hiked it thoroughly, more than 18,000 miles worth, from Cape Flattery to Putter Butte.
As an author, he has 15 books to his credit. Romano is also a columnist for Northwest Runner and Outdoors NW and a contributor to Hikeoftheweek.com.
Romano’s appearance at the Traveler kicks off a weekend of events celebrating the store’s 21st birthday. On Saturday, Nov. 12, there will be cake, drawings, and, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., music by Ranger and the Re-Arrangers.
