Trick-or-treat event returns to Winslow Way Monday

Whether you’re making the rounds to sock away some sweets or just pausing to peruse the spectacle,Bainbridge Island’s annual downtown trick-or-treat celebration is a can’t-miss yearly cultural moment.

It’s set to rise again like any good zombie from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31.

Winslow Way will again be open to pedestrians only between Ericksen and Madison avenues. As in past years, volunteers with Kiwanis and Rotary Club will be on hand to act as crossing guards where needed.The Bainbridge Island Downtown Association will have a hot cider station set up at the head of MadroneLane as well, and spooky organ music and tunes from the Bainbridge High School band will add to the freaky fun.

The city of Bainbridge Island is expected some 4,000 attendees this year, and city hall will be open this year for the first time to join in the fun and hand out candy. City employees have also promised to dress u pin costume.
