Pooches need beaches to stretch their legs, too | Letters | July 3

Regarding the letter “Dogs’ off-leash areas should go elsewhere,” I’d like to point out that it’s not just a matter of needing off-leash space.

What is needed is beach space for dogs. Many dogs love to swim and chase sticks in the water, as their owners walk along the beach.

Prichard Park has a naturally enclosed beach area that is perfect for dogs. If not designated as an off-leash area, maybe something could be worked out to allow off-leash dogs at certain times of the day.
