Bainbridge blotter | Raging pedestrian

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

MONDAY, JULY 11

10:17 a.m. A 55-year-old Bainbridge Island man called police to report an assault by his neighbor at a High School Road apartment building.

He and his neighbor, he said, have had a bad relationship for some time. The week before, he said he had left to walk his dog when the neighbor attacked him in the parking lot, throwing an unknown substance in his face. It stung his eyes, but he was able to wipe it away and continue his walk.

Upon his return, he was again confronted by his neighbor, who this time attempted to thrust a lit cigarette into his face. The man was able to block the butt and defeat the attack, at which point his neighbor left.

On the Fourth of July, the man said his neighbor told him to watch out who he messes with or he might get shot.

The man said he is the “kind of guy who likes to let things calm and settle themselves,” so he did not call the police. He did let the property manager know what was going on, though, and she told him to report it.

Police went to speak to the neighbor, but he was not at home.
