BHS racers rocket through Twilight XC Invite

MARYSVILLE – Runners from the Bainbridge High cross country team left their mark at the recent ninth annual Twilight XC Invitational, hosted by Marysville Getchell High at Cedarcrest Golf Course.
Bainbridge received a team score of 74, earning them second place overall, in the 5,000-meter mens serious “open race” event. Only Redmond High, with a team score of 51, was ranked higher.
The speediest Spartans were senior Aaron Trapp (19:03), junior Jacob Carlson (19:22) and junior Dmitry Chandler (19:29).
BHS was also ranked among the top 10 teams in the 5,000-meter JV freshman/sophomore girls event.
The fastest island runners were sophomore Anna Banyas (22:08), sophomore Lydia Goss (22:32) and freshman Marie Miller (22:54).
In the mens freshman/sophomore event, BHS took fifth place overall. The highest placing runner was freshman Sebastian Belkin (17:26).
In the mens junior/senior event, BHS took sixth place. The fastest runner was junior Will Gleason (17:53).
In the womens 3A-4A event, Bainbridge brought home 14th place, competing against runners from more than 30 schools including Mount Si, Issaquah, Skyline, Eastlake, Kamiak, Edmonds-Woodway, St. Mary’s Academy, Interlake, Lakeridge, Roosevelt, Inglemoor, Arlington, Lynnwood, South Kitsap, Shorewood, Monroe, Bothell, Puyallup and more.
The fastest Bainbridge runner, junior Naomi von Ruden (19:55) took 42nd place.
In the mens 3A-4A event, Bainbridge brought home 12th place overall. The fastest runner was senior Ryan Cox (16:02), who finished in 18th place.
