Eagle Harbor Book Company will welcome three Kitsap authors to the store to talk about their latest books at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 20.
D.L. Fowler and A.E. Huppert will discuss PTSD wounds and healing. Huppert’s “PTSD Self Help: Transforming Survival into a Life Worth Living” is based on years of study and practical application of healing principles. Fowler’s novel “Ripples” deals with the effects of wounding and survival on characters representing several personality types.
Thomas Mengert will also be on hand to talk about his book “Negotiating with Borderline Personality.”
Persons with Borderline Personality Disorder manifest a variety of symptoms that can make havoc of their lives and relationships. The constant vacillation regarding their identity and life goals, their loneliness and low anxiety tolerance and the inner chaos that can beset them at times makes life very difficult and severely inhibits their ability to form lasting plans and relationships and to carry them through to completion.
By taking the reader descriptively into the sufferer’s world, and by proposing a model that is firm but non-judgmental in approach, writer and attorney Mengert hopes to provide a new perspective on “the borderline situation” and to suggest ways to improve it through negotiation. By taking a compassionate view, one based upon seeing the provocative and extreme behaviors of those with BPD as more than simply manipulative or immature, it is hoped that those who deal with the borderline’s world will find it less perplexing and fearful.
