Alicia Kiefler and Steven Albergine might not have traveled the world, but they can tell you all about it. The Sonoji Sakai sixth-grader and Woodward eighth-grader represented Bainbridge last week at the 2016 National Geographic State Bee in Tacoma.
They were joined by 98 students from across Washington, each vying to be the last one standing in this contest of rivers, roads, culture, plants and animals, and economic geography.
The competition was held at Pacific Lutheran University’s Anderson University Center.
The state champion will receive $100, the National Geographic book “The National Parks: An Illustrated History” and a medal, and will journey to Washington, D.C. to represent Washington State in the National Geographic Bee Championship May 22-25.
