The annual Friends of the Farms Harvest Fair will return to Bainbridge Island on Sunday, Sept. 27.

This educational and fun event has historically brought the island community together to celebrate, appreciate and nurture local farming.

Activities abound. Enjoy apple cider fresh from the orchard; shop at the farm stands for fresh, local produce; attend a seminar on local food topics; enjoy yummy food with a focus on “local”; talk with local master gardeners; sample local beverages at the beer and wine garden; and take a tractor or horse-drawn wagon ride. Kids can ride the land slide, enter the pie contest and enjoy pony rides and face painting. Friends of the Farms will also hold a raffle with great prizes.

In addition, there will be a lineup of local musical talent performing throughout the day.

The free fair takes place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Johnson Farm. The suggested donation to attend is $5 per person or $20 per family.

New this year, Harvest Fair attendees may purchase wristbands for $12, which entitle them to unlimited turns on the rides and attractions.

Donations support the event as well as Friends of the Farms’ work throughout the year.
